The Central Valley Progressive PAC and three donors have combined to create a $1,000 challenge match to help raise money to pay off the remaining bills for the great Meet-in-the-Middle Rally held in Fresno May 30, 2009. The March and Rally drew national attention to Fresno and for the need of marriage equality proponents to reach out to others to help restore marriage equality for all in California. A short video about the May 30th event can be viewed at http://www.meetinthemiddle4equality.com/ . The costs for the March and Rally exceeded the money raised. Rather than saddling a few with this debt, we hope that members and friends of the CVPPAC will step forward with their checkbook and help reduce the remaining debt. Checks made payable to the " Community Link " with a memo note " f or Meet in the Middle" and sent to the CVPPAC will be matched up to the $1,000 and are tax-deductible. While this will not cover all of the debt, it will be a big help. After making your check payable to " Community Link" ( see www.fresnorainbowpride.com ; it is a 501c3 entity ), please send it within the next ten days to me or to the CVPPAC's Post Office Box. Our addresses are set forth below. We want to present the checks to the MITM coordinator, Robin McGehee, when she speaks at the CVPPAC's meeting on Saturday, November 14th at 3:30 pm at the Fresno Center for Nonviolence (1584 N. Van Ness Ave., Fresno). Robin will be sharing highlights from the March for Equality held in Washington D.C. on October 11th, as well as an update on the debate about seeking repeal of Proposition 8 in 2010 versus 2012. Her presentation is being held in conjunction with the FCNV's Open House that day celebrating the refurbishing of its office space. Please feel free to share this with others or to contact me if you have any questions. Thank you. Howard K. Watkins Chair, CVPPAC 1785 W.
